One thing I’ve realized from starting our little journey is that one of the main things that motivates me about both being eco-friendly and being frugal is that both have an underlying theme of getting back to the basics. With being eco-friendly, we’re trying to grow our own produce (as much as we can in our space) and have fewer chemicals and hormones in what we eat – getting back to food the way God intended it: for it to nourish us and for it to be appealing. And for being frugal, it’s not just about saving a dollar or two but also realizing that our stuff doesn’t define us (a hard lesson to learn in many cases).

So our no-electronics night idea sort of stemmed from those notions. We realized that we were spending so much time on computers and cell phones, etc. that we were  cheating ourselves on each others company. No one can listen undivided-ly to someone else when they’re concentrating on what they’re doing on a computer or phone. Also, less electronics means less electricity which means being green AND frugal :). Really it’s a win-win-win situation.

So here’s to our inaugural night of no electronics. Hey, maybe if this catches on we’ll do it more than one night a week! 🙂

P.S. And maybe this weekend I’ll be able to fill you in on the beginnings of our little indoor herb garden! 🙂
